The Rain in Summer

The rain in summer gently murmurs

And comes down slowly

Lovingly

Dissolving my world into tiny rainbows

And reflections in puddles

I used to jump in them as a child

And in my mind's eye I see that child

Spinning and whirling

As around him

The world becomes blurry

And the heat goes away

The rain speaks with a thousand voices

And the child in me rejoices

Listening

Set free from the adult world

For as long as the sky is clouded
